Tips for a Better Lifestyle

*This is a shortened version.

We all know the components of a good lifestyle.

A good lifestyle is a combination of healthy food, exercise, and happy relationships.

I assume that you already know about these components and therefore, I will not discuss them in this article.

This article answers these questions:

Assuming you have a good and balanced life, eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, are happy in your relationships, and are financially stable, what can you do to improve your life?

What are some things that can make a difference in your lifestyle?

Of course, this subject is very personal, in the sense that what may be important to one person, may not be important to another.

Elements of a good lifestyle also differ between men & women, single & married, poor & rich…etc.

However, I will describe the main elements that can be considered “universally” acceptable. A lifestyle tool that almost everyone will take advantage of.

Tips for a Better Lifestyle

1-Don’t Take Life Very Seriously:

Some people are serious about life because they believe that life is very serious. They assume that being serious will bring happiness or success.

I realize that mistakes and failures can be serious, but that doesn’t mean we take life too seriously. Too much serious focus on life means that we will miss out on the joys of life. Life is more than just a job or money. Taking things too seriously can drive you crazy. Thinking seriously can stress you out.

You can be serious at work, but in your free time you develop humor and a sense of fun. Adopt an attitude of cheerfulness and optimism. Be childish sometimes. Learn to laugh and enjoy watching funny movies. Surround yourself with funny people. It’s time for you to enlighten about life.

Remember life is a journey, and if the journey is serious and boring, then you want it to be short. Have fun and enjoy the journey. Do whatever you want to make it entertaining and fun. Make this trip entertaining by adding humor.

As Mark Twain once said, “Be careful reading health books. You can die from a typo.”

2-Focus Only on the Moment:

It’s amazing that most people don’t live in the present. Some are overwhelmed by their past, and others daydream about their future plans. Some people try to escape their problems by not living in the present.

Live in the moment and enjoy it. Program yourself not to dwell in the past. Throw away all past memories. You feel cheerful and alive when you live in the moment. The future is always a mystery. You can make plans for the future, but you need to experience the present to achieve those plans. Remember that living in the past means you are not free mentally or emotionally.

Living in the future means that you are dreaming. Happiness is based on the moment. One fact to realize is that your past will not determine your future. The present is your link between the past and the future. The only and best way to live your life is to live it in the moment.

3- Travel:

Travel at least once a year and go to remote places. Get out of your local environment. Traveling has many benefits. When you travel, you break your routine and replenish your energy, mental, physical and emotional energy. Travel can also be an opportunity to acquire new skills, learn about a new culture and meet new people.

Travel is all about variety, adventure and fun. Your life needs fun. It also requires diversity in terms of new people, new geographies, and new experiences.

If you have enough cash, you can go on a world tour, something similar to the Four Seasons Around the World Tour, which costs $115,000 per person. This luxury tour uses private jets and all 5 star resorts.

Stay in a 5 star hotel and treat yourself. Stay in The royal suite of Burj Al Arab of Dubai which has a small cinema and library. You deserve to appreciate yourself once in a while. If you don’t have that kind of money, you can take a trip to the nature reserve and enjoy the serenity of nature. The destinations and travel options are virtually limitless.

4-Find Good Friends:

Substantial research supports the importance of true friends in our lives. A true friend is essential for a happier life. A true friend will confront you about your life problems like drinking problems. A good friend will correct you when you are wrong.

Your best friend should be of the same gender. If you are a woman, it is better that your close friend is a woman like you. A man’s best friend is also a man. You may have a partner/partner and he or she is very close to you. However, you need a close friend who is not your partner.

What I’m suggesting here is a friend you’re not sexually connected to. A close friend, of the same gender, with whom you can share your secrets. A good friend can give you the support you need, even support for your relationship with your partner. This is why it’s important—but not necessary—that your close friends are of the same gender.

A scholar, Carlin Flora, in her book, Friendfluence, shows by many examples the true essence of true friendship. He claims with proof that true friends are the key to happiness.

5- Check Your Habits:

Check your habits and make sure you get rid of the bad habits and adopt the good ones.

A-Get Rid of Bad Habits:

Some habits are so serious that they can be fatal. Smoking, alcoholism and drug addiction can be harmful to your health & life.

If you have millions of dollars but you are addicted to drugs, do you think you have a good lifestyle?

If you are healthy and young, but smoke 30-40 cigarettes/day, do you expect a healthy lifestyle?

The big problem with habits is that you may not be able to get rid of them because they are addictive.

Some bad habits can be a sign of suicidal behavior.

Whatever bad habits you have, remember that they can destroy your life.

Despite the difficulty of breaking bad habits, it is important to know that they can be eliminated.

You will need the right techniques and tools applied by a qualified trainer.

B- Develop New Good Habits:

After you get rid of bad habits, now is the time to replace them with positive habits.

If you quit smoking, start a healthy habit, such as exercising or walking.

Even if you don’t have any negative habits, you can adopt new habits that are useful for your lifestyle.

There are many kinds of habits that are beneficial to our lifestyle. Another good habit is to practice meditation every day. Meditation will slowly build up your energy.

6-Surround Yourself With Only Positive People:

To live a positive life, you need to find positive sources. Emotions are electromagnetic energy. This energy is contagious. This means that if you are around people who have one type of energy, you are more likely to get that type of energy from them and store it in your body.

This explains why when you surround yourself with negative people, you also become negative.

Therefore, the first rule is to stay away from negative people and negative sources.

Stay away from negative news and negative media.

Connect only with positive people.

Positive people will feed your mind with positive things.

Positive people have the ability to be optimistic about life. Their positive emotions will allow them to enjoy a better lifestyle.

Another remarkable behavior of positive people is that they never compare themselves to others. This behavior can lift their self-esteem.

Remember that positive expectations lead to positive results.

Even the aura of positive people is different.

7- Find a Mentor/Life Coach

Life will have challenges and problems. The journey of life is still long.

Some people when faced with a problem try to solve the problem themselves. They reject the possibility of outside help, for various reasons.

No matter how smart or experienced you are, some problems cannot be solved alone.


Because when you have a problem, you tend to think inside the box. Your solution is likely limited and irrelevant.

This is the idea behind “Thinking Outside the Box”.

It never hurts to ask for advice. It’s not a sign of inferiority.

It’s a fact that most successful people have advisors, and they don’t hesitate to seek advice from outside sources. Even the President of the United States cannot function effectively without advisers.

The best adviser is a mentor or life coach.

Your mentor may be a neighbor, relative, teacher, friend, coworker, someone from your community, or a professional consultant. Mentors are good to have throughout your life.

A mentor can motivate, inspire, guide you in the right direction, and help you through personal and work challenges.

A life coach has many useful roles. Not only can they give you the right advice, but more importantly, they can find what’s right for you based on your personality and skills.

A mentor can also develop your skills and provide specific guidance for your personal development.

A life coach or mentor has become essential even for children. According to the National Mentoring Partnership, children and youth who have a mentor do better in school, are less likely to become involved with drugs and alcohol, and more likely to go on to college.

Life coaching has become very important for moderate and large companies around the world.

The increasing importance of life coaching has made it one of the fastest growing professions in North America. According to the International Federation of Coaches, there were more than 15,000 professional life coaches currently operating in North America as of 2012.

Due to higher demand, the cost of life coaching increases. The International Federation of Coaches found that, on average, life coaches charge $214 per session and earn $47,900 per year.

8- Take Time for Yourself:

We need time for many things like career, social activities, family, and sports. However, you also need to have time just for yourself.

Try to spend time alone every day. Spend your time alone doing something you enjoy, like reading, showering, or being outdoors. This is a time to clear your mind and be quiet with yourself.

Solitude has many benefits. This allows you to rediscover what’s yours. This is a good way to disconnect from other people.

As the famous poet Rumi once said, “A moment alone in your room will prove to be more valuable than anything that can be given to you.”

Your life journey will undoubtedly require a lot. It definitely deserves all the care and attention that would make it an even better trip.

Don’t skimp on yourself.

Whatever you spend on your lifestyle, you will one day see the rewards of this spending, in terms of higher achievement and stronger happiness.
