Greyson Chance Slams Ellen DeGeneres in Rolling Stone

In what seems to be a turn of events, singer Greyson Chance is firing at none other than Ellen DeGeneres for her behavior.

This bombshell news, coming as shocking and surprising to many since Chance got his start on Ellen, is now spreading all across social media. The singer stated that the talk show host really was not there to see things through for him.

Opening up to an issue of Rolling Stone the star admits that he did in fact turn down a chance to be on the show’s final weeks due to what he is calling ” insanely manipulative” behavior.

If you don’t remember, Chance was the first person the talk show host signed on her record label eleven eleven after he went viral for his cover of the song Paparazzi by Lady GaGa. This was a record label distributed by Interscope Geffen A&M Records and Ellen even got him a manager, booking agent, publicist and apparently a brand agent as well. In 2010, this was his first big break and he was barely twelve years old.

Starting out, the singer claims that his whole schedule was determined by her. Chance claimed, “My whole week, my whole month, my whole year could change [with] one text message from her. That was horrible.” A close source to Ellen stated that this dramatization did not happen but the comedian did everything she could for him.

We just couldn’t believe what was happening,” he said to Rolling Stone. “We were so unsure of what we were getting into, and the person that helped cure all of that skepticism and chaotic energy was Ellen.”

He even claims when the two met that DeGeneres said to him, “I’m going to protect you. I’m going to be here for you. We’re going to do this together.”

Looking back so many years now, the 25 year old is still triggered. He stated that that he was forced by Ellen to redo an already-taped TV performance. In addition, the singer says he was forced to watch the Justin Bieber documentary Never Say Never during a very packed and busy tour opening for Miranda Cosgrove.

When he didn’t make it a top priority on the tour, DeGeneres called his mother Lisa and not only scolded her but berated her with harsh language. Feeling like a pawn to her, the singer even recalled how she treated others behind the scenes. “She would come in and look at a rack, yell at stylists, berate people in front of me and say, ‘This is what you’re wearing on the show,’” he stated. “She was just degrading to people.”

The comedian also did not want him to wear any leather whatsoever because she was vegan. Though Ellen was not named in the article for Rolling Stone, many are putting the pieces together thanks to some of the lengthy details.

Shortly after the singer released his EP titled Truth Be Told, Part 1, he claims that DeGeneres would not return any of his phone calls but would pretend to be warm and welcoming whenever he was on the daytime show. The singer stated, “She wouldn’t even ask, ‘How are you doing? How are you holding up?’ It was just like, ‘Here’s what we’re going to talk about. We’ll see you on there.’

Even when he came out on the show he felt her heartfelt comments were ‘cheap.’ “She had nothing to do with that. … [When I came out,] I hadn’t spoken to her in years …” He claimed, “that’s so messed up, that you’re now showing the world as if we’re so tight, we’re so good. And behind the scenes, you are this insanely manipulative person.”

This went so far to the point that it had become a “place of active trauma for me” to the point where he turned down the final show tapings.

“I had to do it for my integrity,” Chance stated. He still credits his early career to DeGeneres, but Chance says he owes “fucking nothing to her” at this point. “I was the one that had to pull myself up,” he said. “She was nowhere to be found.”

A large amount of fan support came out after the interview and the singer took to Twitter to thank everyone. The star even promoted his new album in the midst of this as well and fans sold it out within a matter of hours.
